I would rethink both the tv cabinet and coffee table as along with the couches they are too heavy for the space. You need to get some light underneath them rather than the solid shapes. Currently they stain is too red. Glass is ok for tables but it can be difficult to keep clean with children in a home and having something all glass would highlight how heavy the couches were. The combo of a timber top and the iron base is good for the coffee table You could possibly paint, restain or oil the cabinet to match the table. Alternately they could be painted and used for storage in children bedrooms rather than discarding. I would work on getting some texture into the room and a lighter rug would make difference to the overall look. Go brighter rather than lighter with the cushions - and introduce some pattern- they can always be returned if they don't work. Throw rugs might also be cosy. good luck

By changing the entryway as you have, you have created a more expansive living area Congratulations Now don't box yourselves in again by only using the lefthand area of the new space! Have a round dining table with 4 chairs (and a couple of folding spares if you have dinner parties) Add a console or buffet cabinet on the wall opposite the kitchen entry Use a large mirror above that to bounce light from the balcony, as well as decorate the wall Wall C is a good place to wall-hang the TV, but put it closer to the entryway corner, so you can watch it from the dining table as well Enclose the TV in a built-in shelving system for added storage (can never have too much storage!) Place a modular unit at point A and B with a lovely big rug That will not feel too 'boxed in' Anchor that with 2 easy chairs that can move from point D to wherever you need them for any given occassion A large print on wall B will be a focal point for people entering the room Add wall decoration and living greenery Lovely! Also.... is this for a low set or 2 storey house? Sorry for all the questions but it all helps to make more specific suggestions for you.

Sorry, I can't send photos at the moment as we are having our kitchen renovated and all the lounge furniture is stacked and covered. Our house was built in 1960 but everyone thinks it is a seventies house because it looks just like them. We have been progressively renovating and the kitchen is the last thing to do. We actually bought mid century modern style furniture from the Modern Furniture shop in New Farm/ Fortitude Valley in Brisbane, and a parker dining suite from an antique shop. (My partner hates clutter.) The area in our house that is the same as the one where you have your TV actually has had a set of internal stairs cut into it going down, and we have a piano in the remaining space with our buffet up against the balustrade. We did have our dining suite in the same space as you have yours, but it is an 8 seater, so we swapped the dining and lounge furniture and put our 2 seater sofa, 2 armchairs and oval glass coffee table against the wall opposite the kitchen. We use both more now because the dining space is bigger and the lounge space is cosy and inviting. We have a large area downstairs which we have turned into a combination mancave/TV area/ entertainment, casual dining and summer living space as the concrete floor keeps it cool and comfortable. What I love about a big space like this is that you can change it around if you find it's not working for you as it is, or if you just feel like a change. Having to keep to the TV points reduces that flexibility a bit, but maybe you could consider swapping around the dining area? It's just a matter of figuring out what works best for how you like to live, and trying out different configurations might help you do that.
