You need some good landscaping with planting shrubs and colourful plants. Also a decent chunky letter box. Regarding carport, because it is accommodating the caravan and that sticks out, I suggest you install horizontal slats on the sides. You don’t want anything solid because it will shadow the front windows next to the carport and block light, unless that is okay….?
This is what I term an 'annoying' house -- I don't like almost any of the elements , but altogether its actually not too bad .
Is the edging of the carport a black , and the gutters a charcoal/green ? Hard to tell , but something doesn't look right -- maybe its the materials under the paint -- not sure . But personally I'd redo around the edge of the carport in a slightly lighter tone to try and visually match the house gutters .
The carport poles , and the one by the entrance , are wrong in brown -- would have been okay in the late 80's , but times change . I suspect I'd do them in a darker charcoal , and a white on the garage door and that narrow barge board just below the gutters . White looks clean , it matches the plantation blinds , and also the garage door and that 'bay' window on the left will both look light and white , and balance the look of the house .
The letterbox is definitely dated , but a coat of white will even brtighten that -- or , as dreamer says , get a more modern and bulkier one -- maybe $250 . But in this day and age , when we basically don't get letters , is it even worth spending that for something that is essentially a decoration ? I think I'd go with $20 of white paint , and spend the other $230 on plants or stones or bark or alkl of them haha -- a bit of a garden will look nice , but also detract the eyes .
Great ideas suggested, I think making the car port look a bit more solid would give a better look, this can be done with cladding, taking into consideration the height of caravan, also the pole on the porch would look good wrapped to make it blend in. A new letterbox completes the new look.
