Comments (44)Hi LouieT, answers to your q's - Side Windows - not too fussed about them but we'd need windows whether they are the existing ones or new/enlarged I guess depends where they end up. In the current floorplan the one in the toilet is a small window which is boarded up atm. The one in the bathroom is a long/tall louvre window - works quite well in the bathroom - not so sure about how it will go in winter though. Plan with WC in laundry - its 965mm to the window so should fit, however I don't think a WC in that position would work for us as it means people needing to walk to the back of the house to go to the toilet - and I could imagine our ensuite becoming the default toilet if thats the case. Moving laundry - I think we'd probably need a window. Losing large storage - i think we're resigned to losing it. However I think if we can maintain the current laundry or a reasonable portion of it we can owrk in some more storage there. Having had a look at the 3 I think the first one (where current laundry is maintained) is the best. I had a play in sketchup with my measurements and I think your first 3D plan and the first of the three can fit with a few tweaks. See below......See Morepower points locations
Comments (4)think about what power points are missing in your current home and what equipment you will be using in every room...eg master bedroom ...points near the bed for lamps, electric clock or radio, electric blankets and extra points on other walls for desk lamp, computer, chargers etc, bathroom needs point for hairdryer, electric toothbrush, shavers and cleaning equipments, laundry needs points for washer, dryer, iron etc and my kitchen has 6 double power points for counter used appliances (kettle, toaster etc) plus hidden points for fridge, freezer, dishwasher, sink disposal, cabinet lighting, exhaust fan and window openers plus wired in power for built in microwave, oven and hotplate...our long hallway has two easy access points for the vacuum cleaner and we have several external power points outside for Christmas lights and electric garden tools etc)...lots of power points and very expensive to add later so well worth careful planning...See MoreFloor plan to allow more light
Comments (18)Looking at your proposed changes to kitchen floor plan, and if I'm interpreting it correctly, I think having the cooktop in LH corner of long sink benchtop would be somewhat awkward & hazardous esp having an opening/door into the room right there. I think there needs to be adequate space on BOTH sides of cooktop to allow more elbow room for cooking processes, setting hot pans/pots down, etc., and also need to think more about opening/door placement in this scenario. Will you be replacing the current sink? If so will you have a single or double and with or without drain board? Do you want dishwasher to right or left of sink? Would be good idea to include Euro bins in new cabinetry, and as many drawers as budget will allow. Maybe can include a spice drawer? does your current pantry function well as is?...See MoreWhere to locate kitchen power points?
Comments (11)Love those tiles, will the led lighting provide/spread enough light onto a dark benchtop. How wide and deep will the Oak shelf be, my thought would be to use a dark specialist power point to closely match the dark tile colour or even a colour that works with your multi coloured tiles and have the power point set vertical in the top row of tiles under the Oak shelf. The cooktop is close to the appliance cabinet (can't read dimensions} as you may still need to pull an appliance out of the Nook to use without damaging the cabinet, ie: kettle steam, I think a flip up style door would add to your kitchen style. The space above the appliances gives a good opportunity to have shallow timber shelves for special things. Do you have somewhere to have your notebook open to a receipe you are trying to replicate...See Moredreamer
