Comments (8)It looks to be the underside of a beautiful hardwood timber floor. It might be wise to consider whether a new ceiling with insulation for that upper floor is needed in winter. All white would look good for a crisp finish & some colour on the wall. I personally would look at the area as a whole project & what look you are after. It may be that to make it look finished against the house that some boxing around the top of the pillars & a flat panel roof (could be grooved timber panels that come in large sheets ready for staining or painting) will make it neat & finished....See Morehome renovation query
Comments (10)from my experience extending a small amount is not necessarily cheaper than extending a lot and any extension means that you'll have to have plans made and a Development Application approved by the local council (and these two items will cost thousands before any renovating begins) and you will be very surprised how quickly your budget will disappear without very careful preparation ... a plan of the existing house and a wish list is the best way to start..in the meantime, what condition is the existing kitchen, laundry and flooring? could the old kitchen appliances and sink be reused? what about flatpac cupboards? could the work be divided into stages so that you don't run out of money halfway (eg could floor and painting be done later?)..why not post a floor plan with measurements to invite suggestions for the new rooms and i can draw up a plan with the total sq m for you...See MoreEmbracing 80's design - colour query
Comments (4)Those tiles are beautiful so I see why you favour them. They appear to be very similar colour to your brick pattern tiles. I think the ideal situation is to have the same flooring in both areas since they are connected and for cohesion. Maybe others will provide a different solution so you can retain the brick tiles as well as having new tiles. Have you seen Smartstone Athena? It would go well with a grey laminate (I'll have a look what's on offer) and Hogs Bristle wall colour. There's also another stone that is similar to Athena but the veining is diff colour. I'll have a look....See Morewindow Blinds Query
Comments (9)Thank you so much, again, annb1997, I really appreciate your help. Totally random but when we were looking at flooring options yesterday, the store also stocked the blinds. A little more expensive than the ones I’d originally seen online, with a slightly different operational style but also sturdier looking and a recognisable brand name. Since the store owners are extended family, I’ll also be able to rely on their review. Small town living at its best ;)...See MoreJulie Herbert
